The nation’s birthday is coming on Friday, when many locals will take the day off to celebrate, leaving some organizations closed.
This year, the Fourth of July welcomes in a three-day weekend — and also starts the countdown for the 2026 celebration that will mark the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
And as usual in North Texas, the major holiday will include a raft of festivities. They include restaurant deals, fireworks shows along with parades and other events. And the celebrations are in many corners of the region, stretching from cities such as Frisco to Dallas to Granbury.
All the fun doesn’t mean everything will be open on Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth. Here is a list of places that are set to be closed (though it can vary from place to place) for Independence Day:
- Banks, including Chase, Wells Fargo and Frost
- UPS is closed on Independence Day, though its “UPS Critical” service is still available. FedEx also is closed, although its “Custom Critical” service is open.
- Costco
- Many local city government offices
- U.S. Postal Service
- Stock markets with New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq
- Many Texas government offices
- Many federal government offices
Several stores and retail centers are closing early for the Independence Day holiday. Here are a few.
- NorthPark Center, Galleria Dallas, Stonebriar Centre and many other malls will close early at 6 p.m.
- Home Depot will close at 8 p.m. and many Lowe’s stores will too
