The matcha craze isn’t going away as cafes across Dallas-Fort Worth continue to create new concoctions with the powdered green tea leaves. In North Texas, the trend is the focus of several businesses, which are experimenting with the popular product, using it in fruity blends and sweet lattes.
Here’s a list of cafes in the D-FW area serving matcha with unique twists.
Chasen Matcha Bar
Located in Oak Cliff, Chasen Matcha Bar’s menu is focused solely on the green tea drink. Only open on weekends, the matcha bar provides customers with variations from a sweet-tooth’s dream with the Oreo cream top matcha - made with matcha, vanilla, and crushed Oreos - to more nutty flavors like the seion matcha latte, which features notes of almonds and brown butter.
Currently, Chasen Matcha Bar’s summer menu also includes a seasonal mango matcha and matcha limeade.

Hyphen Space
In Deep Ellum, Hyphen Space doubles as a cafe and “creative space” with amenities like a photo studio available. The business’ matcha drinks come equipped with unique flavor combos, such as the pandamonium and the yuzu creamsicle. The pandamonium adds a dash of fresh, vanilla-flavored pandan syrup, while the yuzu creamsicle fuses citrusy yuzu syrup with matcha.
Hyphen Space also hosts matcha workshops for those that want to learn to make matcha, along with the history behind the tea leaf.

Junbi
Junbi provides an assortment of fruit-themed matcha mixtures, from taro to blueberry.
As a part of its limited “Golden Peach” series, Junbi is serving two different golden peach matcha variations, one with vanilla cold foam and a cold brew.
In addition to its drinks, Junbi sells matcha soft serves. Those creations include the guava gauntlet, a matcha soft serve with lychee, guava puree and coconut chips, and the vanilla vacation, with Madagascar vanilla puree, almond jelly and granola.

La La Land Kind Cafe
There are 12 La La Land Kind Cafe locations across D-FW satisfying the region’s matcha connoisseurs. Matcha makes frequent appearances on its menu, with many signature drinks having a matcha option such as the butterfly latte or the french toast latte.
A new, limited time matcha was added to the cafe’s menu in a collaboration with TikTok food critic Keith Lee. The “La La Land X Keith Lee Latte” is a matcha latte mixed with a “secret syrup,” and topped with a matcha cloud, a whole strawberry and matcha powder. The latte is available in all locations through July 27. All proceeds will be given to flood relief efforts for Kerr County.

Meccha Matcha
Whether you enjoy your matcha on the sweet or bitter side, Meccha Matcha can accommodate that. With a pure-matcha menu, customers can indulge in matcha parfaits, soft serves and drinks. Customers choose their “level” of matcha, running from level 1 to 3 based on intensity of flavor.
The menu includes other creative bites such as matcha shaved ice, coupled with mochi balls and red beans. Matcha parfaits are loaded with matcha chocolate, matcha jelly, soft serve, waffle crackers, and more.

Merit Coffee
On the sweeter side, Merit Coffee’s matcha menu gives customers the option to mix their matcha with banana pudding or strawberries – hot or iced. Banana puree and cold foam are blended with matcha for a more fruity flavor in the banana pudding matcha latte.

Olmo Market
Olmo Market’s regular menu features a matcha horchata – a fusion of the sweet and milky flavor from horchata, balancing out the bitter matcha tea.
Its summer menu includes a peach matcha, with a peach puree which can come in latte or horchata form, and a pistachio and caramel matcha latte, which is drizzled with caramel and pistachio syrup for extra sweetness.
