Fatal crash in Irving Monday morning closes State Highway 114

Two people died in the crash on State Highway 114 near Esters Road, police said.

A car going the wrong way on State Highway 114 Monday morning left two people dead and closed all eastbound lanes of the highway, police said.

Irving police responded to a fatal crash early Monday that blocked all eastbound lanes on Highway 114 near Esters Road, police said in a social media post.

Police received multiple calls regarding a wrong-way driver on Highway 114 at about 2:50 a.m., according to Delaney Brey, a spokesperson for Irving police.

The driver was headed west in the eastbound lanes when their vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle near Esters Road, according to Brey. Both drivers died in the collision, she said.

Traffic is being pushed off the highway at Freeport Parkway and let back on after Esters Road, she said. The crash happened four miles away from DFW International Airport.

The county medical examiner recently arrived to the crash, Brey said. Police are working to reopen the lanes within the next two hours, she said.
