A Denton County man is facing charges in connection with the fatal fentanyl overdose of another man, police said Monday.
Police have accused George Howard Cook II, 45, of Krum, of allegedly selling a drug cocktail that contained a lethal dose of fentanyl to Mark Saltsman, 64, according to a police news release.
Authorities said Cook was being held Monday at the Denton jail, although it was not clear if bond had been set.
The incident happened last December when officers were dispatched to 800 N. Wood St. after a man was found unresponsive at his home, the release said.
Police found Saltsman, who was pronounced dead at the residence.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death as “mixed drug toxicity (heroin and fentanyl) with diabetic ketoacidosis,” according to police.
Investigators later obtained a murder warrant for Cook.
Cook was arrested Monday at his home, where police said they also found heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamines.
